A Stunning opening goal
The first goal by Martina that was a stunner was demoralizing and it showed in the performance of Arsenal players after the stunning strike by Martina in the 19th minute of the game.

A wonderful strike by Martina gave Southampton the lead |

Poor officiating
The first goal : The pass in the build-up to the first goal according to replay was an offside before the ball got to mertesacker who successfully cleared his area but the ball was rightly placed for Martina who in return fire the ball comfortably to left-hand - corner of the post.

Surely today wasn't the best of day for the referee either as he got some key calls wrong |
The second too occurred when Long found Mane and appeared to clip Koscielny as the two crossed paths on their way to the penalty area. Koscielny went down, Long was suddenly free in the box and Mane squared the ball for his team-mate to tap in . why the referee did not spot that is still beyond me.
The third goal : the goal came from a wrongly called corner kick in which it was wrongly alledged to have touched laurent koscielny, though replays showed the opposite. All of this was enough a demoralizing factor which gave rise to much anticipated third forth goal that was without controversies.

Awful show from players
Before the match, I for myself predicted a 3 to 1 win in favor of our darling Arsenal only for me to be shut up by the Southampton team who put up an amazing performance. But our boys were miserably disappointing, they let the fans and especially the manager down at a crucial time when we can go to the top of the table. Misplaced passes, poor positioning, poor marking, shocking display generally was all that our guys engaged in today.... It's appallingly unacceptable.

Arsenal has never won a match when they are being bullied
I've watched so many Arsenal matches and If I was a manager and I'm playing against Arsenal, my first tactics will be "guys, kick them hard, do it professionally in such a way you'll not be booked by the referee, rush them, hit em hard." and bet me I'll defeat Arsenal, and since I know most referee considers Arsenal players as being an advance teenager who has no strength but always request for undue protection, non of my player will get a red card, the most will be a yellow. That's what most manager does . the opening game against Aston Villa at the Emirate where we lost, against Chelsea this season, etc. are some of the undoubted example of what I've just said and today's loss shows a need for a serious improvement on that front.

Like past Arsenal players, Arsenal players should always be ready to fight the fight on the field and not let anyone bully them. |

Will Arsenal ever win the league again under Arsene Wenger?
This is one of the most asked questions after today's defeat... I also unconsciously joined in asking. Just after the game a friend who's a gooner too reminded me that this is the 4th time this season Arsenal has bottled the chance of going top. I don't think that's a good record and it should be addressed. Next match is another opportunity to go top of the league and a slip again will further confirm the claim by our title rivals that we are merely a title pretender and not a real contender.

The last time Arsenal won the league under Arsene Wenger was 2004 with the invincibles |

We stand no chance against Barcelona
Come January next year Arsenal wll be locking horns with the catalan giant Barcelona. Does conceding 4 goals away to Southampton confirm anything close to serious threat from Arsenal to Barcelona? Definitely "No" is the answer. Maybe Wenger should parade the young guns for the two legs as I can see us winning against the scary MSN.

Is there any hope? I don't think there is any. |

We need our injured players back as soon as ASAP
Who can control ball under pressure in tight spaces in Arsenal team like Santi Carzola? Insane Stamina in form of a Duracell battery like Alexis Sanchez? Outside foot shot like Tomas Rosicky, pitball character like Francis Coquelin? Work rate like Danny Welbeck? The answer to these questions is definitely a "No" so if 'no' is your answer, that shows that you must have realize like me and millions of gooners around the world that we need these players back ASAP. I've really missed them.

Tell me the truth, you've definitely missed these guys |
Conclusion
That's all buddies for today, let's hope for a different and better fortune in our subsequent matches and not quickly forget that losing matches is part of the game. Do not fail to comment if you have something to say. Bye for now. See ya later.
SO YOU SAY WE NEED THE INJURED PLAYERS BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW? ARE THEY SOMEWHERE YOU GO AND BRING THEM.....
ReplyDeleteBUT GOOD ARTICLE GUNNER!!!!
I understood your point that getting players back from injury is not like bringing your old clothes out from inside your wardrobe...that phrase was used to emphasize the need for our physio to step up and try work hard in getting our players back ASAP. Thanks for the comment though. You're wonderful! #gunnerfamily
